Movie enthusiasts and fans of Maja Salvador are eagerly waiting for the opening of Regal Entertainment’s “My Kuya’s Wedding,” the launching picture of the country’s breakthrough star Maja Salvador. Written by Alan Tijamo and directed by Topel Lee, it also stars Ryan Agoncillo, Pauleen Luna, Jason Abalos and Dominic Ochoa.

The project is a dream come true for the 18-year old Maja who loved to watch movies, including Regal productions when she was a little girl living in Aparri. She says, “Nakikita ko ang mga artista at natutuwa ako sa kanila. Ang guguwapo at ang gaganda nila!”

She had a special fondness for Regal Baby Maricel Soriano. “Ang galing-galing niyang magpatawa! Ang galing-galing niyang sumayaw! Gusto kong maging katulad niya. Gusto ko ring maging Regal Baby.”

When she moved from Aparri to Manila, Maja tried her luck at modeling as a steppingstone to

a show biz career. She joined small-time fashion shows in malls. “Doon minsan pag rumarampa, nagbabayad pa sila,” reveals Chit Ramos who would become Maja’s talent manager. Maja also joined magazine cover girl contests and appeared as a model in several fashion editorials.

In the past three years, Maja’s career as an artista started rising. But it became extra special this 2007 when Mother Lily Monteverde signed her up to star in “My Kuya’s Wedding.” Meeting the remarkable producer was an exhilarating moment for the young actress. “Siya ang nag-build up kina Ms. Maricel Soriano, pati kay Ms. Kris Aquino na nakasama ko sa ‘Sukob.’ Malaking honor para sa akin na pinili ako ni Mother. Si Mother Lily pala ang tutupad ng aking pangarap na magkaroon ng solo movie. Nagpapasalamat ako kay Mother at sa Regal. ”

Now that her movie will be shown soon, Maja is very excited. “Ito ang biggest break ko. Hinintay ko ito buong buhay ko kaya pinagbutihan ko talaga.”

“My Kuya’s Wedding” also stars Say Alonzo, Frank Garcia, Ethel Booba, Janus del Prado, Dick Ysrael, Ryan Yllana, Debraliz, Kitkat, Cheena and many more. It opens in theaters nationwide in August.
