Regal Entertainment brings to the big screen ”My Kuya’s Wedding,” a grand romantic comedy for the entire family.

The film is about a woman who wants to stop a wedding but the filmmakers --- producers Mother Lily Monteverde, Roselle Monteverde-Teo, and Manny Valera, screenwriter Alan Tijamo, and director Topel Lee --- take it a step closer to the hearts of the Filipino families by focusing on the relationship of a sister and her older brother.

“Filipino families are very close. We are also very emotional. I have to admit that when my children got married, I had mixed feelings of sadness and happiness. At my most sensitive I feared that I would lose my children!” Mother Lily confesses.

Families would immediately relate to the story of Kat (Maja Salvador) and her Kuya Jeff (Ryan

Agoncillo). Even when she was young, Kat was always jealous of any girl who got near Jeff. The grown-up Kat gets very upset when she learns that Jeff is engaged to Heidi (Pauleen Luna). Adding to Kat’s distress is discovering that Heidi is the sister of Aris (Jason Abalos), a “mahangin” reality-show contestant that she absolutely dislikes.

“It’s all about family,” underscores Roselle. “It’s about brothers and sisters and in-laws, the families you have and the family members you gain through weddings. You may be able to choose the person you want to marry but you can’t choose your family. The movie’s funny and crazy but very touching.”

The presence of gifted comedians such as Dominic Ochoa, Ethel Booba, Dick Ysrael, Kitkat, Cheena, and Ryan Yllana, makes “My Kuya’s Wedding” so riotous. Also in the cast are Janus del Prado and model-actors Say Alzonzo and Frank Garcia.

Partially shot in the beautiful province of Bicol, “My Kuya’s Wedding” is indeed a Pinoy family romantic comedy.  Written by Alan Tijamo and directed by Topel Lee, it opens in theaters nationwide in August.
